Histamine Intolerance
Histamine Intolerance (HIT)
Histamine Intolerance is a condition in which the body is unable to break down histamine properly, often due to reduced levels or function of the enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO), which processes histamine in the gut. This leads to an excess of histamine, resulting in a variety of symptoms similar to allergic reactions. Diagnosing HIT can be challenging, as symptoms overlap with other conditions, and there is no definitive test.
