Patient Advocate
Emily Thorpe is a skilled registered nurse specializing in intensive care, hereditary connective tissue disorders, and patient advocacy. She graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland University’s nursing program and brings experience managing complex cases while supporting critically ill patients and their families in the Weinberg Surgical ICU at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
At The EDS Clinic, Emily delivers personalized care to patients with chronic conditions by focusing on:
- Advocating for Patients: Guiding patients through diagnoses, managing medical records, coordinating care, and addressing insurance challenges. She amplifies their voices, provides emotional support, and is strengthening her skills through the EDS Society ECHO Health Advocacy Program.
- Providing Clinical Care: Performing assessments, developing care plans, monitoring treatments, evaluating risks, and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure integrated, high-quality care.
- Supporting Health Management: Coordinating multidisciplinary care, ensuring adherence to treatment plans, managing medications, and connecting patients with specialists to meet their specific needs.
Emily combines expertise, empathy, and dedication to empower patients and ensure they feel informed and supported throughout their healthcare journey.
